JOURNEY AT PECHANGA HEAD PRO WINS SCPGA MERCHANDISER OF THE YEAR
Scott Mallory Earns Section Award for Excellence in Resort Facilities
December 15, 2009, Temecula, CA – The Southern California Professional
Golf Association (SCPGA) named Journey at Pechanga Head Golf Professional,
Scott Mallory, as their 2009 Merchandiser of the Year for Resort Facilities. The
award was presented in early December. In November, Mallory also received the SCPGA
2009 Inland Empire Chapter Merchandiser of the Year.
Mallory aimed to set the Journey Pro Shop apart from the competition of 84 other
shops in the Southern California section by offering a unique selection of high
quality equipment and the latest golf fashion, including some area-exclusive lines.
“Since we opened in November of ’08, we set out to make this pro shop like no other,”
said Mallory. “Winning the award was certainly on our minds, but to do so in the
first year caught us by surprise.”
Mallory’s previous honors include the 1994 San Diego Chapter Bill Stausbaugh Award;
the 1995 San Diego Chapter Merchandiser of the Year; the 1995 So Cal Section Merchandiser
of the Year; and the 2008 President’s Council.
During his 24-year career, Mallory has worked at a number of prestigious properties,
including Marriott’s Camelback Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona; Rancho Bernardo
Inn in San Diego; SCGA Member’s Club in Murrieta; Bear Creek Country Club in Murrieta;
and Glendora Country Club. Through the years, Mallory has put golf merchandising
at the forefront of his career path.
