GETTING STARTED - (Page 2)

Pechanga’s Hiring Process & Timeline

In order to ensure that Pechanga hires the best team members, we have a detailed process with multiple steps and activities. The majority of the hiring process is hands-on, involving several departments and various members of management along the way. This process takes time because we are highly selective in whom we hire; we only want those who are in it for the long run. The steps are listed below for your reference to help guide you through this process.

Job Search

You begin by searching for an opening or department that interests you. This can be done online (www.PechangaCareers.com) or at Pechanga’s Application Center. If you do not see a position listed that interests you now, we still encourage you to reach out to our Employment Specialists and introduce yourself. By introducing yourself, becoming a friend of Pechanga and providing us with your information, you will be on the fast track to joining our team. Being in contact with us will give you a head start to knowing when a position becomes available and establishing your relationship with Pechanga.

Applying and Pre-Screen Interview

After you apply for a position by submitting your application and resume, your information is forwarded to one of Pechanga’s Employment Specialists. If you meet the minimum qualifications for the opening, the Employment Specialist will contact you to conduct a pre-screen interview. Our specialists are available to help guide you in the right direction towards an opportunity which you are qualified for. They are your resource to you for learning about our company and finding your place in it.

Once our employment specialist determines you are qualified for a position, they will contact you for a pre-screen interview. During the pre-screen, the specialist will ask you questions about your experience and skills related to the opening. This is your time to showcase the talents and abilities that will make you the best candidate for the position.

Our employment specialist will take detailed notes during your conversation and share them with the hiring manager along with your application. It is important that you take this interview seriously; it is the real thing and will determine whether or not you advance to the next step. Make sure you provide as much information as possible and demonstrate your communication skills so that you may be considered for further action.

Skill and Personality Assessment

In specialized positions, we are looking for very specific skills, behaviors and/or personalities. In order to gather this information, we may request that you complete an online assessment, written test or physical audition. Your performance on any of these assessments will be used to determine your qualifications for the position. Demonstrating the skills necessary for the opportunity and having the personality that meets our profile will allow you to advance further in the process.

On-site Interview

Following a thorough review of your qualifications, references, pre-screen interview and in some cases an assessment or test, you may be invited to an interview on-site. The format for the on-site interview process will vary depending on the department or position. It can range from one interview with the hiring manager to several interviews that might include a panel-style interview. The level of responsibility, experience and skills required for the position will determine the number of interviews conducted. Being invited for several interviews is a good sign; it shows that we are interested in you and that you are likely to be offered a chance to join our organization.

The Waiting Game

Following the interviews, the hiring manager and department will decide if you are suitable for the open position. Some time may pass from the time you submit your application to the point you are presented with an offer. We are just as anxious to fill our team’s staffing needs as you are to start your new career. It is important to remain patient. Remember, you are welcome to contact your employment specialist at any time to check the status of your application.

Extending an Offer of Employment

Once you are selected, you will be invited to the Application Center to sign a “Job Offer Acknowledgement” form. The letter will contain details about your salary, and an overview of your benefits package will be explained by the Employment Specialist. The offer becomes valid and official, pending results of a drug test, credit and background check.

Pechanga is a drug-free employer and a drug test is required of all new hires. The test will be administered when you come to the office to sign your offer of employment. The Application Center staff will administer the test and the results will be available immediately. If you pass the drug screen, you will be sent to the Gaming Commission office to begin the background and credit check process.

Gaming Licensing and Background Check

Given our gaming environment and need for elevated security, all team members must apply and be approved for a gaming license. The licensing requirement will involve two visits to the offices of the Gaming Commission. The first visit occurs immediately after you sign your job offer acknowledgment, and pass the drug screen. During this visit you will be given an information packet for you to complete with personal information and details of your background. After being fingerprinted, you will be scheduled for your second appointment.

At your second visit, you must bring the completed information packet for the Gaming Commission to review. Upon your return, a Licensing Agent will review all of your personal information and ensure that everything is in order. If you successfully pass your background check, and the Licensing Agent determines that you are eligible for licensing, they will take your picture and issue your gaming badge. This concludes the licensing process, and fulfills your eligibility requirements for hire.

New Hire Orientation

After obtaining your gaming license and completed paperwork, you may return to the Application Center to be scheduled for new hire orientation.

The new hire orientation is conducted over a two day period. The first half of each day is spent with a group of new team members from all departments. The classes review Pechanga’s policies, general information and performance expectations. The second half of each day will be spent in smaller groups with new team members from your specific department. This portion of orientation includes a departmental tour, introductions to management and more detailed information related to your department.

Upon completing orientation, you will be released to your department and the on-the-job learning will begin. The new hire program varies by department, as Pechanga strives to provide new team members with the appropriate information and support they need to be successful.

Remember, this is the time for you to make a good impression and demonstrate your knowledge and abilities which qualified you as the best candidate for our team.

Now that you are among Pechanga’s finest, you are responsible for carrying on our reputation of being better than the rest!
