James “Jimmie” Walker is a renowned American actor and comedian, born in 1947 and raised in the Bronx. He began his career performing stand-up comedy with groups such as the Black Panthers, and later toured with music legends Stevie Wonder and Diana Ross.

Producer Norman Lear discovered Walker and cast him as J.J. Evans on the hit show Good Times, a role he played from 1974 to 1979. He became famous for the catchphrase “Dy-no-mite!” and earned two Golden Globe nominations. Time Magazine named him Comedian of the Decade for the 1970s. Walker also helped launch the careers of Jay Leno and David Letterman by hiring them as writers.

His film credits include Airplane! and Let’s Do It Again. He has recorded two Grammy-nominated comedy albums and authored a bestselling book. Walker continues to perform stand-up worldwide and remains a beloved figure in television history.
